The Business Analyst/Project Specialist will work with business, project, and technology teams to ensure collection of information, accurate requirement gathering, data analysis, documentation of information, and presentation of findings to advance initiatives and ensure project success.
NUTS AND BOLTS (what you’d do – among other things):
Responsible for the translation of business needs into application software requirements, including use cases, process flows, functional and technical specifications
Collaborate with carriers, SMEs, and developers through various formats to ensure designs meet usability specifications
Review requirements, user stories, designs, and specifications with SMEs to ensure success
Collaborate with Product Manager, Technology, Legal and Actuarial teams to implement proposed resolutions and approaches
Conducts and facilitates effective project meetings, including requirements gathering, issue tracking, status reports, and executive communications
Ensures problems are effectively escalated and crisis management activated, as needed
Document root causes and specifications and work with Business and Technology to set controls to prevent further issues
Serves as liaison between users of the software and technical staff
CANDIDATE MUST HAVES:
Self-starter who can independently seek information, herd cats, deliver results, and prioritize workload without waiting for direction
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze facts, evaluate information and draw sound conclusions
Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
Excellent time management skills, with strong ability to juggle multiple priorities
Proficient with Microsoft Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and Powerpoint)
Strong technical skills
Experience with the software development lifecycle, methodologies, estimating, troubleshooting and solutioning
CANDIDATENICE TO HAVES:
BA/BS Degree or equivalent work experience
1+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst, preferably writing business requirements and functional specs
Prior Commercial Lines insurance industry experience a big plus
